Have you Googled your business lately? If you’re not showing up on the first or second pages of Google, you may be losing business to your competitors. This is where SEO comes in. SEO is search engine optimization and if your company isn’t showing up on those first results pages, it may be time to optimize the content on your company’s website. Here are a few SEO tips to get you started:
Know your keywords
Search for your business on different search engines as well as your competitors and jot down the search terms and keywords that brought you to what you were looking for. Use these keywords in the content on your website to make sure you stay near the top of those results.
Let your website serve as a resource
Share your expertise with your customers before they decide to buy your product or service. If you’re a plumber, give “how to” advice to promote yourself as an authority in the field. If you’re a florist, upload pictures and videos of what you’ve created lately and tag the content with keywords.
Create relative content, update it often
Often the news or blog section of your website is a great place to start to post content regularly. It won’t clog up your front page and it will drive search traffic to your website. The content you post here needs to be relative to your industry and to your customers and full of keywords. But remember, you don’t want to post content just for the sake of it, your customers will notice.
